California has long been known to promote the most boxing events year-in and year out, as well as featuring some of the biggest names in the best boxing matches in the world. This Saturday, April 27, will be no exception. Ontario’s Citizens Business Bank Arena will be packed with fight fans awaiting the highly anticipated bout between #1 WBC rated heavyweight Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola (35-2, 30 KOs)and #2 WBC rated heavyweight Bermane “B.Ware” Stiverne (22-1-1, 20 KOs). The big guys will square offin a 12-round WBC World Championship Heavyweight title elimination bout with the winner guaranteed to immediately fight for the world championship.
In honor of those fighters that have brought many years of great, exciting fights to the state of California, Goossen Tutor Promotions has invited the former ‘Golden State Boxer’s Association’ fighters to be recognized for their past achievements at Citizens Bank Arena. The first family of boxing will pay tribute to these fighters by inviting each past warrior into the squared ring for a moment of appreciation for their dedication, heart and brilliance giving it everything they had in our sport.
Following are just some of the fighters who will be acknowledged: featherweight knockout artist Jesus Pimental, Frankie Duarte, lightweight champion Rodolfo Gonzalez, featherweight champion Danny Valdez, 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist and flyweight champion Paul Gonzalez, Light welterweight champion Zack Padilla, welterweight Andy Price, heavyweight champion Mike Weaver, lightweight champion Art Frias, welterweight champion Armando Muniz, featherweight champions Ruben Castillo, Danny “Little Red Lopez, and Bobby “School Boy” Chacon, junior lightweight champion Gabriel Ruelas, lightweight champion Rafael Ruelas, and welterweight champion Carlos Palomino.
