Undefeated featherweight Gervonta “Tank” Davis(8-0 8KOs) returns to the ring tonight on ESPN2, making this his first televised bout. Hailing from Baltimore, MD “Tank” has long awaited this moment. He said, “I’ve always dreamed about making my television debut, and now it will happen on October 8th. Thank you Al Haymon, Team Davis, and ESPN2, for helping make my dream come true. I’ve been putting in solid work in the gym and I will be ready for my fight. This will be my first time fighting in Mississippi, so I’m looking forward to putting on a show for the crowd. On September 26, 2014 Davis held a public workout session called “Bullying Stops Here” at Mondawmin Mall in Baltimore, MD to help kids who face bullying and persuade those who do bully others that their actions cause pain. Crowds came to watch Davis as he shadow boxed and worked the heavy bag with fast combinations. After his workouts were complete Davis signed autographs and took numerous pictures with fans. Davis will be going against veteran German Meraz (47-31-1 25KOs). Headlining the card will be Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor as he takes on Sam Soliman for the IBF middleweight title. Also on the undercard, Andre Dirrell (22-1 15KOs) will be back in action against Nick Brinson (16-2-2 6KOs) This card is being promoted by Dibella Entertainment and Warriors Boxing & Promotions LLC. The telecast is set to begin 9pm EST on ESPN2.
