Portsmouth’s Andy Gatenby is relishing returning to South Parade Pier in Southsea to box on November 30th, when he takes on a yet to be named opponent on the undercard of gym mate Joel McIntyre’s first tilt at Championship honours, on the TRAD TKO Events promoted BRAGGING RIGHTS event.
The reason for Andy’s enthusiasm stems from his amateur days, as he enjoyed numerous successes at the Victorian landmark.
With six resounding victories under his belt at the famous South Coast venue, young Andy is hopeful that his upcoming return as a professional boxer will be equally successful, as he made clear when he spoke earlier.
“I’m really looking forward to going back to South Parade Pier, this will be the first time I’ve boxed there since I turned professional.
I’ve had about six fights there as an amateur, so it’s a good vibe for me as I’m going back to where it all began for me, yeah, I’m looking forward to it.
Training’s been going really well, but next week we’re stepping things up, I’ll be going up to London for a week’s camp, so I’ll be at the TRAD TKO all next week and get some good sparring in.
Since turning pro I’ve fought three times, the first one was alright, the second was better than the first and my last fight was better than both the first and second put together.
I’ve improved with every fight, so if all goes well I will do so again on the 30th.”
Andy Gatenby, against a yet to be named opponent, features on the undercard of the Joel McIntyre versus Danny Couzens, International Masters Light Heavyweight Title clash, that headlines the Johnny Eames TRAD TKO Events promoted ‘Bragging Rights’ event at South Parade Pier, Southsea on Saturday 30th November
