It’s-A-Bout-Boxing are bringing their dynamic style of boxing promotion back to Birmingham for the new boxing season.
The brainchild of Promoter Marcus Anderson, grandson of renowned boxer, trainer and manager Lesley Anderson, It’s-A-Bout-Boxing returns to the Institute, Digbeth on Friday, 13th September.
“It’s an action-packed show featuring terrifying tussles and plenty of things that go bump in the night,” explained Anderson. “’Friday 13th’ features an ‘Animal’, a ‘Mad Man’, an old favourite out to haunt his opponent, plus plenty of cracking bouts to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing up………………it’s the one you’ve all been screaming for!”
Topping the bill is the rescheduled British Masters title fight between Chris Truman and Stephen Jennings.
The light welterweight pair were set to meet at It’s-A-Bout Boxing’s June show but a hand injury forced Truman to postpone the fight. Neither fighter was prepared to give up the ghost though and the pair are ready to go toe-to-toe for a British Masters strap.
Also featuring is Warren ‘Big Rig’ Sinden. The Welsh light-middleweight wowed the packed crowd last time out with a convincing points victory over previously unbeaten Disney Huni. The 24 year-old is building a reputation as an exciting ticket seller and will be joined by fellow boxers from ‘Prospects Gym’ in Birmingham – Michael ‘Mad Man’ Mooney and Ainsley Seivwright. The pair – light welterweight and super featherweight respectively – both notched up impressive victories on their last Institute appearance back in June.
Boxing fans will be delighted to hear that evergreen entertainer, Young Mutley, is back! The 37 year-old former British Welterweight Champion hung up his gloves last February but makes his ring return on ‘Friday13th’. The old timer will be ready to roll back the clock and give some young pup the fright of their life.
Unbeaten super middleweight, Andrew ‘D’Animal’ Robinson will be looking to extend his unblemished record in his hometown. The 28 year-old has won his opening seven fights and will be looking to make it 8 in a row at the Institute.
Coventry’s unbeaten heavyweight, Mike O’Hagan, super flyweight prospect Samson ‘Slick’ Sykes and youngster Mikey Boyles also feature on what is sure to be a fiendishly good night of boxing.
The most shocking thing about ‘Friday 13th’ though? The price. Tickets are just £25 General, £50 Ringside and £75 VIP Ringside. They are by calling the Box Office on 0845 467 3930 or 07888 870 650.
