Derrick Webster ready for Arif Magomedov

Fight fans are now just two days out from Derrick “Take it to the Bank” Webster (19-0, 10 KOs) stepping up to face unbeaten Russian Arif Magomedov (15-0, 9 KOs) in the co-feature bout of this Friday night’s ShoBox telecast. The fight, which will be taking place at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem (Pennsylvania), will also have the NABO Middleweight Championship resting on the outcome of the bout.

“Camp has been going beautifully. I don’t think I have ever been so focused for a training camp before,” Webster stated. “My trainer, Denny Brown, has been pulling things out of his hat that I have never seen. My team has been amazing this entire training camp. We’ve been working. I have been pushed to my limits, and everything has remained intense since we first opened up. We’ve been at weight for a week now, and I feel great. I’m excited for this opportunity.”

In Magomedov, Webster is facing another representative from the recent wave of Russians who have moved their home base to the United States. Magomedov is currently ranked #2 in the WBA, #8 in the WBC and #6 in the WBO.

Webster enters this fight after recently campaigning at super middleweight, and he even had to spend some time in the light heavyweight division just to keep himself busy. However, he started his professional career as a middleweight, and he feels very comfortable to once again be competing at 160 pounds.

“I have so much speed, I could give some away, and my power at 60 feels amazing. What you’re looking at is the total package,” Webster commented. “I consider myself the best southpaw in boxing today. I’m 6-4. Think about that. I’m 6-4 with an 80-inch reach, and I can move like I’m 5-2. Just think about it. You’re looking at a freak of nature. When I get in the ring, you’re not out on the playground. I’m nothing to toy with.”

Weigh-ins for Friday night’s Showtime Quadrupleheader will take place on Thursday evening at the Vision Bar, located at Sands Casino Bethlehem, with fighters stepping on the scale at 6:00 PM. Doors for Friday night’s show open at 6:00 PM, with the first bout occurring at 6:50 PM and the Showtime telecast kicking off at 10:00 PM.
