Former world heavyweight champion David Haye has announced he will be hosting an open work-out session from midday on Tuesday April 12 at Third Space Canary Wharf as he steps up preparations ahead of his upcoming fight versus Arnold ‘The Cobra’ Gjerjaj at The O2 on May 21.
The Hayemaker will be treating fans to an exclusive work-out session with his trainer Shane McGuigan – son of legendary boxer Barry McGuigan – and will also feature a number of the fighters who will be battling it out on the undercard at Haye Day.
Commenting on the event, David Haye said: “I’m really looking forward to training in front of the fans, it’s a thrill and I always look forward to putting a show on – even in training. I’m working hard in the gym with Shane on a daily basis and I’m looking forward to showcasing the fantastic work we’ve been doing.”
Talking about his upcoming fight, the former two-weight world champion said: “The Cobra poses a real threat – he’s a proper heavyweight – standing at 6 foot 5” and tipping the scales at over 17 stone. He’s unbeaten in 29 fights and has delivered 21 KO’s – he is hungry for a world title shot and his physical attributes make him extremely dangerous.”
Haye continues: “January’s Haye Day show was an amazing success, not just for the 121 second knock-out but the recording-breaking TV figures, sell-out crowd at The O2 and A-list guests in attendance. May’s event will be bigger and better and has an undercard full of exciting fighters, topped by an English middleweight title fight as the chief support.”
Fans are encouraged to attend the open work-out session at Third Space Canary Wharf between 12pm and 2pm on Tuesday and are advised that limited space and entry is for over 18s only on a first come first serve basis.
