Danny Roman will be honored as the “Fighter of the Year” during the 15th Annual California Boxing Hall of Fame induction ceremony this Saturday, Oct. 24, from the Sportsman’s Lodge Events Center in Los Angeles.
It was a banner year for the Los Angeles-based Roman (17-2-1, 5 KOs). The super bantamweight routed five opponents, captured and successfully defended the NABA Title, and is currently ranked No. 14 by the World Boxing Association.
“We normally don’t have a fighter of the year, but we decided to honor Danny Roman for his incredible performances this year,” said Don Fraser, president of the California Boxing Hall of Fame.
“Danny enjoyed his best year as a professional boxer,” said Ken Thompson, Roman’s promoter. “We matched him against tougher competition and he answered the bell every time. He’s a relentless and dedicated worker. We are extremely proud of what he was able to accomplish this year.”
Saturday’s luncheon begins at 11:00 a.m. and is open to the public. An admission charge of $50 is required at the door. The Sportsman’s Lodge is located at 12833 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604 and can be reached at 818-755-5000.
