Undefeated welter weight Chase “Checkmate” Corbin, (6-0) resumes his career after a year and a half hiatus from boxing. Corbin faces veteran Roberto Venezuela on the Path To Glory card promoted by Thompson Boxing Promotions, at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California, on June 28.
“This fight’s a good test for me, because Venezuela is a veteran. You can’t be confused by his record,” Corbin said. “He’s got 55 KO’s, and has fought EVERYONE. So if I want to be on the level of his opposition, this is a good fight to take.” Trainer Jeff Mayweather is pleased with his fighters progress. “Chase has worked to get in shape, and to get back where he was skill wise. He’s stepping in the ring with bigger, more active guys. He’s preparing himself in the best way, because he’s challenging himself.”
