Jalisco, Mexico (April 15, 2016) – Eric de Guzman’s Alberta based Teofista Boxing continues to make big strides in 2016 as it looks to expand promotional operations into Mexico. In a newly formed partnership with La Reina Boxing Promotions and Adolfo Perez Jr. of Los Angeles (Son of famed World Boxing Hall of Fame President Adolfo Perez Sr.), the Western Canadian powerhouse looks to extend it’s branding by bringing exciting boxing shows south of the US border.
The first show on March 26 was a big success and featured the Mexican debut of Alberta based Mexican transplant Alejandro Torres. Now 4-0 (2 KOs) as a professional, Torres is an exciting rising lightweight star with a wealth of fistic talent. The Alberta charge wasted little time in his first fight down south, stopping Jonathan Gonzalez in the second round. The exciting card took place at the Malecon Municipal de Jamay, in Jalisco, Mexico.
The next exciting installment of the Teofista Boxing Series Mexico will take place this weekend, April 16, again in Jamay, Jalisco. Torres is slated to see action again in a co-featured bout looking to further endear himself to local Mexican fans with his all-action style and high skill level.
After another short turnaround, a third card is slated for April 30 that will feature C.P.B.C. junior middleweight champion Stuart McLellan and heralded Alberta amateur star turned professional Devin Reti making their Mexican debuts. Torres is once again scheduled to see action on the card, which will be his fourth fight in 2016 as he continues to advance his record.
Big things are in store for Torres should he be successful as expected, as there are plans for the Mexican-Canadian to fight for a Mexican National Championship later in 2016.
The action will be a co-promotion between Teofista Boxing, Ring Mundial Promotions and Le Reina Promotions tentatively scheduled to land at the Coliseo Deportivo Municipal “Luis Donaldo Colosio”.
