Fredericton, New Brunswick (June 7, 2013) – With under two weeks to go before Brandon Brewer’s (7-0-1, 3KO) much anticipated June 15 rematch with Francis Lafreniere (3-3-2, 2KO) at the Moncton Lions Club, tickets are selling steadily and excitement continues to mount around the city. In their first meeting, Brewer and Lafreniere slugged it out for eight grueling rounds in front of a capacity crowd in Moncton, only to have their bout end in a draw. Both men believed they had done enough to win, but the judges thought otherwise.
On June 15, neither man will be eager to let the decision rest in the judges’ hands, all but ensuring an all out, slam-bang affair at the Lions Club. “I believe I won the first fight, one hundred percent,” explained Brewer. “I think that was obvious the first time around. I clearly and easily won the first half of the fight then gassed out. It wasn’t back and forth until the second half of the fight. In the first few rounds I dominated him. I deserved the win.”
Brewer firmly believes he’ll score a decisive victory on June 15, avenging the lone blemish one his record. “I’ve never lost a fight. The only dent on my record is my draw with Francis. I want to erase that with an impressive win in Moncton.” Although the two have met before, Brewer believes his boxing abilities have evolved considerably since their clash in 2012. “When I first fought Lafreniere, to be perfectly honest, I was still a bit raw. He was my first big step up. I’m a totally different fighter now. With Aubrey McLeod and Phil Baraly putting me through my paces in the gym, I continually learn new things. If he thinks I’m the same fighter as in 2012, he’ll be making a big mistake.”
Tickets for Brewer-Lafreniere II are available at various locations across Moncton, including Rossano’s Italian Grill and Baraly’s Amateur Boxing.
