Pound-for-pound queen Cecilia Brækhus (26-0, 7 KOs) has enlisted the help of former opponent Ivana Habazin in preparation for her November 29 clash with Jennifer Retzke (15-1-1, 9 KOs) at the Falconer Hall at the Radisson Blu in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Brækhus and Habazin met in a historic unification fight at TAP1 in September. ‘The First Lady’ outpointed the young Croatian champion to claim the IBF belt and become the first female boxer to hold all four major titles simultaneously.
To prepare for her next challenge, a mandatory defence against IBO Champion Jennifer Retzke, the 32 year-old boxer from Bergen has been sparring with Habazin at Team Sauerland’s Berlin gym.
‘’My coach and I were really impressed with what we saw from Ivana,’’ said Brækhus. ‘’I didn’t know too much about her before we fought. She was a world champion so I knew she would be a capable boxer but I think she surprised everyone. That girl can fight!
‘’To be the best I need to surround myself with the best. That includes sparring partners. I need someone who is able to push me to ensure I’m in top shape come fight night. Ivana is definitely one of the best female boxers out there. With her help I’ll be the best possible shape on November 29 and ready to defend my titles in style!’’
Brækhus tops the bill at the Falconer Hall in Copenhagen. The Undisputed Female World Welterweight Champion is joined by Norwegian super middleweight Tim-Robin Lihaug (8-1, 5 KOs) who challenges for the vacant WBO Youth World title and light heavyweight hopeful Alexander Hagen (4-1, 1 KO). Full undercard details will be announced shortly. Tickets are available via billetnet.dk.
The event will be available via Pay Per View on Viaplay, the Viasat satellite TV platform and on the Altibox TV platform. The price will be 299 NOK. Viaplay/Viasat will provide further details related to the Pay Per View event in the coming weeks.
