Chicago, IL, Monday, July 15, 2013–Bobby Hitz announced today that Hitz Boxing will return to Chicago when it hosts “Night of the Rising Stars” at the El Rey Ballroom, 3504 Western Avenue in Chicago, on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 7:00 PM. The card will feature the region’s best and brightest rising stars including Fidel Navarette, Roy Navarro, Adnan Ortiz, Semajay Thomas and Antonio Canas. Tickets will start at $30.00 and will be available at the door.
“The young fighters taking to the ring on August 30 represent the best up and coming talent in Illinois.” said Hitz. “We are glad to return to Illinois and to showcase these fantastic young kids.”
After Hitz announced that he was suspending his Illinois based boxing events due to concerns with regulators he launched meetings with state officials which proved to be productive.
“I have recently had a number of good faith conversations with officials from the State of Illinois and I am encouraged that the concerns I previously raised about the way the sport of boxing is regulated in this state have been addressed,” said Hitz “It is important that the local boxing community work in partnership with officials so that our sport can flourish in our great state.”
Two weeks later Hitz will stage his wildly popular “Fight Night at the Horseshoe” on Friday, September 13, featuring dynamic Chicago super middleweight Mike “Hollywood” Jimenez in the Main Event as well as heavyweight David Martin III and lightweight Frank “Time Bomb” Scalise.
Since its debut in 1991, Hitz Boxing has been the Midwest’s leading boxing promoter. Led by Bobby Hitz, who boasted a 21-4 record with 18 KO’s as a boxer, Hitz Boxing is the longest running boxing promoter in the Chicago area dating back to the bi-monthly boxing series the “Ramada Rumble,” held at the former Rosemont Ramada Inn. The organization currently promotes the wildly popular “Fight Night at the Horseshoe” at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN and is the subject of “Hitz Boxing,” a reality show airing on YouTube which has amassed over 5 million views. Over the years the organization has produced matches that have included some of the top names in boxing such as James Toney, Antonio Tarver, Montell Griffin, Iran Barkley, Andrew Golota and “Fast” Fres Oquendo.
