Unbeaten professional lightweight boxing star from Canning Town has begun 2013 with a flying start.
The 22 year old east ender jetted out to Spain to the La Manga Resort to participate in a gruelling training camp in preparation for the year ahead. “It was a great experience going to La Manga, Spain to train. I got an insight into training abroad with the team at high altitudes and we all found it very useful and a great chance to get fit for an eventful year ahead.”
The TKO Gym member was joined by teammates Freddie Turner and Billy Joe Saunders.
The mountainous area near Murcia provides excellent training opportunities at high altitudes to increase stamina levels as the air is much thinner and the oxygen content is dramatically lower.
Trainers Jimmy and Mark Tibbs have instructed Billy to be ready for March. No sooner was the instruction given when a date was announced for Friday 22nd March at the famous home of boxing, York Hall.
The venue is somewhat familiar to the talented youngster as all 7 wins have been in front of the east end faithful at the famous London venue. Morgan has aspirations to soon enter championship level and to one day bring home the coveted Lonsdale belt.
“The aim this year is to stay active and fully fit and get a few good wins under my belt then assess where I am at the back end of 2013. If things have gone to plan then I’m sure a Southern Area or English Title challenge will be just around the corner.”
The hard working professional is juggling between gym time and full time work in plumbing. There is a stark need for sponsors to get behind the prospect to enable training to take priority. To enquire about sponsorship opportunities contact \sports Marketing Manager Tim Rickson at [email protected]
