Babyface Looking To Be Quick On The Draw

Wraith Promotions have announced a further three fighters for their next professional boxing show ‘Young Guns, A Boxing Bonanza’ which takes place at Gateshead Leisure Centre on Saturday May 17.

Anthony ‘BabyFace’ Nelson from South Shields will fight in a six-threes; Gateshead’s Craig Nicholson will get another four rounder under his belt and Tommy Ward – the younger brother of recent world title challenger Martin Ward – will also get another chance to shine.

Promoter Steve Wraith is working in partnership with Fighting Chance Promotions led by Lewis Pendleton. Fighting Chance Promotions operate a pro boxing stable and have recently moved into the newly refurbished Fighting Chance Foundation in Felling Gateshead.

Fighting Chance promotions manage some of the North East’s top boxing talent, including brothers Travis and Jon Lewis Dickinson. The third member of the stable is Craig Dixon. The 11-0 prospect is a former GB international and will headline this upcoming show in his hometown. The ‘Birtley Bullet’ will box for a title as he bids to climb the domestic rankings before challenging for national supremacy later in the year.

There is an exciting local derby for the vacant Northern Area light-welterweight title between John ‘Razor’ Watson and Paul Archer.

Kirk Goodings, the current English lightweight champion, will have a six rounder to keep himself ticking over, and there will be a professional debut for Tom Whitfield.

Promoter Wraith stated: “It’s building up nicely. It’s nice to have the big London promoters paying the North East attention but I think the boxers realise that these smaller shows are the bread and butter of the sport. Without local promoters there is no boxing and I’ve said it in the past, the likes of Tommy Conroy and Phil Jeffries are the reason the sport has grown in the North East. They relit the flame, I’m simply carrying that torch by putting on these types of shows.”

Tickets are on sale from all fighters priced at £30 and limited ringside priced at £50. VIP packages are available at £750 and £1000.
