Chicago, IL Tuesday, September 16, 2014 Chicago’s Antonio “Aztec God of War” Canas (10-1-1, 4 KOs) looks to hand Rafael Hernandez (8-0, 5 KOs) of Grand Rapids, MI, his first defeat when the two square off in eight round welterweight bout during Hitz Boxing’s “Fight Night at Horseshoe Hammond” at The Venue on Friday, September 19.
“I work very hard in the gym and I am well prepared so stepping in the ring is the easy part,” said Canas. “Now its time to give Hernadez his first defeat and bring home the win.”
Canas, who is emerging as Chicago’s best 140 pounder, has developed a reputation as a hard worker who is not afraid to take on tough opponents.
“Antonio is one of the hardest workers out there and unlike many, he takes the hard fights,” said Bobby Hitz. “By facing an undefeated boxer like Hernandez he is showing the boxing world that he needs to be taken seriously.”
Rita “La Guera” Figueroa, who trains Canas alongside the legendary Sam Colonna, praises his hard work ethic.
“Antonio is one of the hardest working fighters out there and he keeps getting better and better,” said Figueroa. “He is easy to train because he always listens.
Tickets for “Fight Night at Horseshoe Hammond” are available at hitzboxing.com and at The Venue Box office. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the first fight is at 7:30 PM.
