Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade won the vacant WBO Junior Middleweight World Championship on Saturday night with a 12-round decision over Vanes Martirosyan at the America Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Although dropped in the first round, Andrade dominated the balance of the fight to win by scores of 117-110, 114-113 and 112-115. The bout was telecast Live on HBO®.
“He caught me but I stayed focused,” said Andrade about the knockdown. “I stayed focused and continued to jab and started to pick him apart. I started to feel comfortable inside and won the fight.” On becoming a world champion, “This feels great and my time is now.”

With the win, the 25-year-old Andrade ran his undefeated record to 20-0-0 (13KO’s), while Martirosyan suffered his first defeat, 33-1-1 (21KO’s).
