For the second straight year Hall Of Fame Boxing Broadcaster Al Bernstein will make a special appearance at the United States Intercollegiate Boxing Championships on April 11 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Bernstein who is a big supporter of USIBA said, “this organization has given college men and women an outlet to participate in boxing and I am happy to help focus attention on these talented young athletes.”
Some 142 boxers representing 22 schools will be on hand for the competition. Michigan won last year’s men’s title while West Point took the honors for women. USIBA Executive Director Luke Runion said, “I’m proud to see USIBA grow and to have Al Bernstein return to the 2015 Championships of college boxing. With all the excitement surrounding boxing these days, having a Hall Of Famer like Al coming to our event adds a lot to our championship event. As future advocates of Boxing, I hope USIBA athletes take the positive lessons they have learned from the sweet science and apply them in their future endeavors as coaches and officials and in other areas of their lives.”
