To our loyal fans:
Classic Entertainment & Sports CEO Jimmy Burchfield Sr.
In the boxing business, those who take time off, rest on their laurels, or sit back and wait for things to come to them will never truly make their mark in a sport that constantly changes and evolves, sometimes within weeks.
The real joy in what we do is anticipating and planning for the next event, not living in the past, and with that in mind we’re exciting about our upcoming Oct. 17th dual main event spectacular at Mohegan Sun Arena, an event coming less than a month after the highly-anticipated showdown between Rich Gingras and Angel Camacho Jr. in Rhode Island.
We never worry about how we can top one event. We just do it. Less than two weeks from today, we treat our loyal fans to an event featuring two of the best fighters in the world, not just the northeast or New England, but the entire boxing world.
Former WBO junior middleweight world champion, U.S. Olympian and Providence, R.I., native Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade begins his comeback with us in a 10-round bout against dangerous Argentinian Dario Fabian Pucheta for the vacant WBO and WBA International Titles, a bout also brought to you by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing an Artie Pelullo’s Banner Promotions. The second half of our dual main event features the electrifying “Hammerin'” Hank Lundy, the pride of Philadelphia, fighting for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Lightweight Title.
It’s rare to see two fighters at the top of the sport on the same card, but as we continue to bring new and exciting opportunities to our fans, it’s imperative we stay ahead of the curve and evolve and change while boxing continues to do the same. As always, this card features something for everyone, including the return of undefeated junior middleweight Khiary Gray, fresh off his UBF Title victory in September, plus gritty New Haven, Conn., featherweight Josh Crespo, a tough, exciting fighter who never backs down from a challenge.
This is an exciting event for a number of reasons, but mostly because of the precedent we continue to set in the northeast. We do not promise major-league events with minor-league talent. What you will see on the 17th is two of boxing’s rising stars, a former world champion making his way back to the top and a world-rated title challenger who’s become a household name on all the major networks from ESPN to Showtime to HBO. Mohegan Sun is the only place to be on the 17th because it’s the only place you’ll see so much primetime talent sharing the spotlight in one night. It’s what we do.
This event will sell out, so I encourage you to get your tickets now. Limited seating is available. This is a show you don’t want to miss!
Thank you for being the best fans in the world!
