matthysse324 Neither IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KO’s) or WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31 KO’s) will have their titles on the line for their fight this Saturday, May 18th on Showtime at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Matthysse, 30, didn’t want to have his interim WBC title on the line for fear that he would lose out on his chance to get a fight against WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in the fall if he gets beaten by Peterson on Saturday.

Will Tomlinson Defeats Malcolm Klassen to Retain IBO Super Featherweight Title

Australian Will Tomlinson (21-0-1, 12 KOs) has retained the IBO super featherweight title in defeating South African Malcolm Klassen (27-6-2, 14 KOs) via unanimous decision in Melbourne, Australia tonight.

In what seemed a very competitive fight from start to finish, Tomlinson was aggressive, looking to stalk down the two time IBF super featherweight champion Klassen from the outset. The first round saw Tomlinson land a controversial knockdown on the South African that appeared to be from a shove, with Klassen showing considerable displeasure to the referee’s ruling.

Nigerian-born cruiserweight Olanrewaju Durodola (15-1, 14 KOs) defeated Victor Barragan on April 20 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to capture the vacant WBC Continental Americas cruiserweight title. I was recently afforded a chance to catch up with the Kansas City resident to speak about his boxing career and future aspirations. Durodola, who goes by the ring moniker “God’s Power”, also discussed how his former profession in law enforcement and his Olympic boxing experience helped him develop as a boxer. Kell Brook vs. Carson Jones II rematch on July 13th in Yorkshire

Unbeaten welterweight contender Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) will get a second shot at proving that he’s the better fighter than American Carson Jones (35-9-3, 25 KO’s) when they face each other on July 13th in a rematch at the Craven Park Stadium, Hull, Yorkshire, UK.

Brook and Jones fought last year in July with Brook winning a controversial 12 round majority decision in Sheffield. The fight looked to be more of a draw, if not an outright win by Jones because Brook took major punishment in the last six rounds of the fight and was staggering around the ring in the 12th after taking a serious lambasting from Jones.

Booth: Haye-Charr fight is postponed, and not cancelled

haye34 Earlier today news came out about former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye suffering an injury to his left hand will prevent him from facing Manuel Charr on June 29th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. At the time, Haye wasn’t saying about whether the fight was cancelled or postponed.

Well, Haye’s trainer/manager Adam Booth is now saying that Haye’s fight with Charr is postponed and not cancelled. He doesn’t know when Haye’s left hand will be healed because he dislocated it, but it likely is more than a month before he’s able to resume training with that kind of injury.

Arum: If Pacquiao loses to Rios then he’s going to have to make a decision about his career

pac888 Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says his money fighter Manny Pacquiao is going to be facing a potentially big career decision if he were to lose to Brandon Rios on November 23rd in their fight in Macau, China.

Arum sees this fight as an exciting match-up, and he obviously wouldn’t have made it if he didn’t think Pacquiao had a good chance to win it, but he still thinks Pacquiao will have to make a decision about his career if he gets beaten. It would be Pacquiao’s third straight loss and it’s difficult to imagine where he would go from there.
