Dereck Chisora Takes Away Malik Scott’s Unbeaten Record With Controversial 6th-round Count-Out

chisora101 Tonight at Wembley, Dereck Chisora got back to winning ways with a 6th-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Malik Scott. The ending, at the very least a slightly controversial one, came at the two minute and 56-seconds mark of the 6th.

Chisora, in improving to 17-4(11) said after the fight that he wants to go back to Germany to fight the Klitschkos, again in the case of WBC king Vitali. Scott, now 35-1-1(12) said “everyone knows I beat the count,” yet otherwise took the defeat graciously.

So, now to the controversy. Scott, ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage and having boxed very well, was belted by a right hand shot that landed on the back of the head as he was on the ropes. Scott went down, smiling as he did so, appearing relatively unhurt.

Chisora TKOs Scott in unusual stoppage

American Malik Scott (35-1-1, 12 KO’s) was on the receiving end up a terrible, terrible 6th round stoppage against Britain’s Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11 KO’s) tonight at the Wembley Arena in London, UK. Scott hit the deck in the 6th after getting hit with a looping right hand that hit him in the back of the head.

Scott stayed down on his knees until the referee counted to 9, and then Scott got back to his feet. The referee halted the fight anyway much to the shock of Scott, his team, as well the British fans. It looked like the referee might have been confused in the amount of fingers he was holding up because Scott was clearly on his feet at the count of 9.

Chisora: Malik Scott will gas out; he’s going to get stopped

Heavyweight Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10 KO’s) is predicting that American Malik Scott (35-0-1, 12 KO’s) will run out of gas tonight at some point from his pressure and end up getting stopped before the finish line at the Wembley Arena in London, UK. Chisora thinks he’ll wear Scott down with his constant pressure that he puts on him.

Chisora said to The Sun, “Malik Scott is going to get stopped because he ain’t got a clue. He’s going to gas out. When the thing starts hitting the fan most people fold.”

The thing with Chisora is he doesn’t always win even when he wears down his opponents with his pressure. We saw Chisora tire WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and Robert Helenius both out and still lose to both of them.

Friday’s ShoBox Results: Molina Shocks Bey, Badou Jack Wins

LAS VEGAS (July 20, 2013) – Power-punching John Molina (26-3, 21 KO’s), of Covina, Calif., stormed back from the brink of absolute defeat to dramatically knock out previously unbeaten Mickey Bey (18-1-1, 9 KO’s), of Las Vegas by way of Cleveland, Ohio, at 2:01 of the 10th and final round of their lightweight fight Friday in the main event on ShoBox: The New Generation live on SHOWTIME® from The Joint At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

In the co-feature, Sweden’s Badou Jack (15-0, 10 KO’s), of Las Vegas, remained undefeated by registering a lopsided 10-round unanimous decision over Farah Ennis (21-2, 12 KO’s), of Philadelphia, in a super middleweight scrap. Jack won by the scores of 100-90 and 98-92 twice.

Lundy dominates Olusegun; Kielczweski stops Soto

392 New York, NY (7/19/13) – Earlier tonight, before a sold-out raucous crowd, DiBella Entertainment presented this week’s edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights at the historic Rockingham Park, in Salem, New Hampshire.

The 10-round main event featured a battle between WBC #3-rated junior welterweight Olusegun Ajose and WBC #5-rated “Hammerin'” Hank Lundy that ended with the latter winning a dominant 10-round unanimous decision.

Ajose was just two fights removed from his world title bid and first professional loss at the hands of Lucas Matthysse and was hoping an impressive victory over Lundy would put him back into the world title picture. Unfortunately, Lundy had other plans.

John Molina stops Bey in 10th round

John Molina (26-3, 21 KO’s) was able to come back in the 10th round tonight to pull out a victory by stopping Mickey Bey (18-1-1, 9 KO’s) in the 10th round at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Going into the 10th round, it looked like a certain defeat for Molina, but he was able to connect with a short left hook to the head while in close with Bey.

The punch badly hurt Bey, who attempted to clinch, but Molina wouldn’t let. Molina kept throwing punch after punch until referee Vic Drakulich stepped in and halted the bout at 2:01 of the round.

Bey had been dominating the action in the three prior to the 10th, standing with his back against the ropes and beating Molina at his own game by slugging it out with him. At the start of the 10th, Bey unloaded with a sustained flurry of body and head shots that appeared to hurt Molina. He had Molina just standing there like a punching bag and he could pounded him the entire round if he had kept throwing punch. But it looked like Bey gassed out or got cautious all of a sudden because he backed off and stood dared Molina to come forward.

Pacman dares Floyd; assures he’s not over-the-hill

pac73 “I was not mauled by Marquez, it was a lucky punch that knocked me out,” Manny Pacquiao explains in an ABS-CBN interview yesterday as he rejects Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s taunt and assures the fans he’s not over the hill yet.

Rightly so, Pacman was the one beating black and blue Juan Manuel Marquez into submission when the miracle blow suddenly hit the entire arena into shock during the quadrilogy. If not for the “lucky” punch, another round and Marquez would be out. The bloodied and bruised Marquez, gasping for breath, appeared to be the over the hill boxer in that bout had it not for the seer that hypnotized Pacquiao to fall twice.

Carl Froch, A modern day great?

froch11 Carl Froch(31-2,22ko’s), Britain’s pound for pound number one is currently riding the crest of a wave. His win over Mikkel Kessler(46-3,35ko’s) catapulted him into the general public’s attention and has solidified him as being one of Britain’s greatest and most entertaining fighters. Had Froch had the publicity earlier on in his career as Amir Khan had and the likes of Luke Campbell and Anthony Joshua are now obtaining, who knows how much of a star the Nottingham man may have become.

As it is however, Carl has finally reached the top and is now bankable box office draw. The question is though, is Carl Froch, and can he ever become, a modern day great. In years to come will he be remembered as fondly as the likes of Eubank, Benn, Lewis, Hatton and Calzaghe.

Floyd: I’ll fight Pacquiao if he signs with Mayweather Promotions

pac3 Floyd Mayweather Jr. is no longer setting a condition that Manny Pacquiao turn his career around before he’ll fight him. That was what Mayweather Jr. had previously asked for Pacquiao to do before he’d agree to fight, given that Pacquiao has lost his last two fights.

Mayweather Jr. now wants Pacquiao to sign with Mayweather Promotions before he’ll agree to fight him. Pacquiao currently is signed with Top Rank though 2014.

Mayweather Jr. said to Yahoo Sports “I’m just letting you know that he’s not getting a fight with me. The only way he’s getting a fight with me is if he signs with Mayweather Promotions. He’s got to give me fights with Mayweather Promotions. If he don’t give me no fights under Mayweather Promotions, then he’s not getting the fight. That’s how it’s working now.”

Broner to Danny Garcia: F**k that dude [Matthysse] up; I’ll get the other Argentine [Maidana]

For the first time WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) revealed that he could be facing the hard hitting Argentinian challenger Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) next rather than vacating his title and ducking the fight like a lot of boxing fans think Broner will do.

Broner sent a twitter of encouragement today to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia, telling him to beat his scheduled September 14th opponent Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32 KO’s), and that Broner would then take care of the other Argentinian, meaning Maidana.
