11.07 - Leverkusen - On Saturday the seventh event of Universum Box-Promotion this year takes place in Leverkusen, Germany, a city close to Cologne.

The evening could turn out to be a long boxing night with a lot of competitive action because from the eleven fights on the card at Wilhelm-Dopatka-Halle five are title contests.

Headlining are championship fights of boxing queen Regina Halmich and European light heavyweight champion Stipe Drews.

Playboy model and German boxing queen Halmich, 42-1 (14), defends her WIBF flyweight crown against Bulgarian Svetla Taskova. It’s a rematch of their first encounter in November 2001 that Halmich won by a close unanimous decision. It will be the 34th world title fight for Halmich, a champion in two different weight classes.

In the co-main event undefeated European light heavyweight king Stipe Drews, 23-0 (11), will make the first defense of his title against Frenchman Kamel Amrane, 22-3-1 (14). Drews won the EBU crown in February with a 12-round shut out decision over Italian Silvio Branco.

Completing the championship part of the evening are three WBO intercontinental title fights.

German middleweight prospect Felix Sturm, 17-0 (8), takes on Roberto Mario Vecchio, 11-1-2 (4), for the WBO intercontinental middleweight title. The highly talented Sturm is already holding the IBF junior world title. Hungarian Zsolt Erdei, 15-0 (11), defends his WBO intercontinental crown at light heavyweight against Italian Massimilano Saiani, 20-11-1 (9). And Polish Matt Zegan, a former challenger of world champion Artur Grigorian, will contest for the WBO intercontinental belt at lightweight against Argentine Roberto David Arrieta, 12-4-3 (4).

On the undercard among others: Big 6-foot-7 heavyweight prospect Alexander Dimitrenko, 8-0 (5), from Russia, German super middleweight contender Mario Veit, 39-1 (22), and undefeated cruiserweight Pavel Melkomian, 14-0 (6).
