Boxeo de Oro Fighters Appear in Little Village

July 7, 2003 (Chicago, IL) - Press Release - Home to the second largest population of Mexicans in the US, Chicago's Little Village neighborhood will be the site of a public boxing exhibition presented by Hitz Boxing & Oscar de La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

Fans are invited to meet professional fighters, get autographs and watch sparring in a boxing ring that will be erected in the street at 26th and Central Park, the heart of Chicago's Mexican community.

HBO Latino's July 10th "Boxeo de Oro" headliner, Chicagoan Angel Hernandez has generously offered to donate a portion of his July 10th purse to Chicago's MAYA (Mexican American Youth Association). A check presentation will be made at tomorrow's exhibition.

In addition, promoter Bobby Hitz is donating a number of tickets for the July 10th Boxeo de Oro event to the kids in Chicago's MAYA program. Hitz understands that keeping kids in the gym means keeping kids off the streets.

Fans in attendance at tomorrow's Little Village exhibition will have an opportunity to win a pair of Oscar de La Hoya autographed boxing gloves.
