DAVID TUA TO ROY JONES: "PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE"

11.06 - David Tua wants Roy Jones. Tua 43-3-1 37ko's, the biggest puncher in the Heavyweight division wants to exercise his right as the highest ranked available fighter in the WBA and fight their Champion, Roy Jones.

With Vitali Klitschko confirmed to fight Lennox Lewis for the WBC Championship on June 21, Klitschko gives up his right as the number 1 challenger with the WBA, opening the door for Tua to step up. The WBA mandatory was last fought on July 27 2002 when John Ruiz beat Kirk Johnson.

For Roy Jones, the mandatory defense of his WBA Championship is due on July 27 2003 and we are requesting to the WBA that they open negotiations immediately for Jones to make his mandatory defense against the highest ranked contender, David Tua.

Since August 2002 David Tua has improved his WBA rating from #9 to #2.

Tua is currently ranked in the top 5 by all sanctioning bodies. WBA #2, IBF #3, WBC #5 and WBO #1.
Jones won the WBA Championship on March 1 2003, with a points win over John Ruiz, a fighter that Tua had previously knocked out, in 19 seconds of the 1st round.

Jones is now talking of fighting Evander Holyfield, a fighter who is coming off a shut out loss to Chris Byrd, an operation on his shoulder and who has had 2 wins in his last 7 fights. To make things worse Jones is on record stating, that Holyfield is nothing but an old man. Yet he is now talking of fighting this old man.

In the past Jones has been quick to call out Tua, now there is only silence.

For the credibility of the sport of Boxing and respect to the Heavyweight Division Jones needs to step up and fight a real legitimate Heavyweight Contender, David Tua.
