Toney Wants "The Terminator" After "Real Deal"

Three-Time World Champion James Toney To Battle Four-Time Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield In 12-Round Heavyweight Battle Live On Pay Per View, Saturday, October 4, At Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas

19.08 - With California in a state of disarray, three-time world champion James “Lights Out” Toney vows to turn things around when he is elected governor of California in the Oct. 7 recall election. After surveying the slate of approved candidates, the Los Angeles resident has announced that he is starting a write-in campaign.

Before taking on the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gary Coleman, Gallagher, Angelyne, Larry Flynt and Gray Davis, however, he must defeat four-time world champion Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield in a 12-round heavyweight showdown live on pay per view, Saturday, October 4, at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“After I knock out Holyfield, it is lights out for Schwarzenegger,” Toney said. “To get California back on track, I say we generate revenue by having Schwarzenegger fight me on pay per view. The undercard can be Gray Davis against any girl of his choice. Who is Schwarzenegger anyway, the Incredible Hulk? When I defeat “The Terminator,” he will turn back into “The Running Man.”

The HOLYFIELD - TONEY pay-per-view telecast begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. Goossen Tutor Promotions will present the event, which will be distributed by SHOWTIME Pay Per View and carries a suggested retail price of $44.95. Tickets to the event are priced at $650, $500, $300, $150 and $75, and are on sale now at the Mandalay Bay Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. To order tickets by phone, call (702) 632-7580.

After taking on many of his era’s finest fighters, including Roy Jones Jr., Toney is not afraid to mix it up with the gubernatorial hopefuls.

“I would win a debate hands down because I would not allow any of the other candidates to get a word in edgewise,” Toney said. “If you think I am hard to understand, try listening to Schwarzenegger.

“In all seriousness, I know I can do the job. You know I will fight to the end and will not back down from the pressure. I have proven my whole life that I can battle back from the most adverse of situations and rise to the top. I am a proven winner and a born leader. Vote James “Lights Out” Toney for governor of California.”

Highlighting the Oct. 4 undercard will be a sensational 12-round IBF title eliminator featuring two of boxing’s most talented fighters, former 130-pound world champions Diego “Chico” Corrales and Joel Casamayor. The once-beaten boxers currently sport a 66-2 combined record with 49 knockouts.

Holyfield-Toney will be produced and distributed by SHOWTIME Pay Per View.
