Rask-Karmazin collide in Aalborg June 13

By Teddy Stenmark

24.05 - A press-release from Danish promotional team Palle let's us in on what's next for Scandinavia's number one boxing stable. The next event will be held at the Aalborg-arena (Aalborghallen) in Aalborg on the 13th of June and will feature 33-year old junior middleweight Michael Rask against Russian EBU-holder, Roman Karmazin for the European title. It will be the Danes third fight for a title of major significance, in two previous outings for the WBC junior middleweight title (against Spaniard Javier Castillejo) and the European belt, (Mamadou Thiam) Rask have come up short in dethroning his foes.

Both fighter (Rask and Karmazin) have 30 wins to their credit. Karmazin's sole blemishes consist of one draw and one loss while Rask has the two mentioned title-losses as sole stains on his record. It definitely looks like the Danish fight-fans are in for a good-looking match-up!

Like "icing on the cake" up-and-coming heavyweight ace Steffen Nielsen gets a rematch with Brit Julius Francis in a fight for the EU-title. The two men met in Randers (Denmark) on the 13th of September last year with Francis winning on a solid sixth round knockout. Nielsen's only loss in twenty fights (19-1)!

Julius Francis sports the modest but still OK record of 23-11-1, with the opposition in his fight-column, obviously a little bit stronger than the Danes! Francis very much like Steffen's countryman, Brian Nielsen has, as you might recall, been in with Mike Tyson and lost.

The Steffen Nielsen- Julius Francis re-match is well worth the ticket if you decide to go see the event! Another interesting fight that is tentatively on for the Aalborg-card is the top-duel between fellow stable mates, Anders Styve (9-1-0) of Norway and Reda Zam-Zam (8-0) of Denmark.
