Team Palle close to secure a solid TV-deal?

By Teddy Stenmark

16.04 - Danish promotional outfit "TEAM PALLE" have had some difficulties landing a solid TV-deal ever since leaving their former partner TV Denmark. The Danish cable TV-channel dropped the Palle´s last year after the ratings had gone down and Team Palle wanted better terms for their shows.

Now an opening seems to have occurred for the promoter, Danish public service TV (DR1) aired the latest card from Copenhagen on the 11th of April and it attracted more viewers than expected beforehand. Head of Sports at DR1, Jörgen Steen Nielsen is fully satisfied with the ratings following Friday night's event.

"This was an experiment from our side to see if the interest of boxing still was there" Nielsen said to newspaper BT. The show attracted approximately 600 000 viewers during the main events, featuring super middleweights, Mads Larsen and fellow stable mates Mikkel Kessler and Spend Abazi, To compare with TV Denmark's modest 100 000.

"This gives us reason to try it again and he is counting on getting on with serious negotiations with the Palle's after Easter about a long term deal regarding future shows.
