Scandinavian Boxing Awards Presented By Swedish Boxing Magazine "Boxning"

By Teddy Stenmark

09.03 - The annual Scandinavian Pro-boxers award was presented in the latest edition of the Swedish Boxing magazine "Boxning". These awards have been presented in the publication since 1995 and the following fighter were awarded; Bantamweight Johnny Bredahl was picked as fighter of the year for his splendid ninth round KO over Eidy Moya in Copenhagen for the WBA World title.

Breakthrough of the year went to Swedish heavyweight Attila Levin for his solid and steady progress during 2002 scoring significant wins over the likes of Ron Guerrero and Klitschko-beater Ross Puritty.

Interestingly enough Rookie of the year went to the quiteunknown cruiserweight Johny Jensen for among other things his solid win over local rival Jesper Kristiansen last year. The Palle-figher now sports the unblemished record of 10-0.

Fight of the year was a disputable debate among the voting panel members headed by the magazine's chief editor Olof Johansson and his fellow Scandinavian colleagues. The jury split into two parts, one who were for Johnny Bredahl vs Eidy Moya the other for the less prestigious WBC international title fight in welterweight between Swede Paolo Roberto and Argentinean Eduardo Bejerano. Both, beautiful, colourful and exciting matches. They couldn't come to an agreement so the two bouts shared the award.
