From the Scandinavian fight-scene

02.11 - I recieved mail from fight manager Henrik Risum a few days ago and he wrote that he was letting his fighter, middleweight Anders Peder Hoyer Jensen (4-2-0, 3KO) go. Risum told me, strictly off the record that Jensen had gone behind his back and spoken with other promoters and managers. He couldn't tolerate that kind of behaviour. Naturally I was quiet about the whole thing. I kind of figured that it might blow over and the two could patch things together again. Obviously that was not the case, in a press release from Risum Boxing, published on www.danish-boxing.dk recently young Risum lets everybody know that the Risum-Jensen partnership now is over and done with. What happens with Anders "AP " Hoyer Jensen now is anybody's guess!

The Team Palle-card held in Copenhagen on the 8th of November that harbours the WBA World title fight in bantamweight between Johnny Bredahl (55-2) and South American (Venezuela) Leo Gamez (34-8-1) has quite a few interesting match-ups to offer. Former European bantamweight champion Spend Abazi (23-1) gets a chance to wash away that only blemish he has on his record as he takes on his old foe Athanas Nzau (13-3-1) of Kenya that he lost a six round points decision to in Aarhus in 2001. Super middleweight Mads Larsen (42-1) gets another Brazilian on his hands, Roberto Coelho (30-7) while Super middle colleague Mikkel Kessler (28-0) gets a yank to take care with, Dean Williams (16-2). Undefeated Swedish light heavyweight Giovanni Alvarez (10-0) is in for his career's biggest risk-taker as he steps into the ring with South-African Soon Botes (23-9). Botes as you might remember put up a tough fight against Mads Larsen back in 1997 (L TKO 7). Super middleweight Martin Nielsen (2-0), lightweight Martin Kristjansen (1-0), Cruiser Johny Jensen (8-0) and Swedish newcomer Aldo Colliander (2-0) will be on the program. It is definitely shaping up nicely and will with out a doubt give us fight-fans a night to remember.

The Vester Team has lined up an IBF Intercontinental junior welterweight fight with Allan Vester (22-2-1, 5 KO) in Kjellerup on the 15 of November. The former World and European title challenger faces Lawrence Ngobeni (28-3-1, 17 KO) of South Africa in the main event. Former European welterweight champ Christian Bladt (24-2-1, 6KO) is booked for an eight rounder on the program. He is joined by Cruiserweight, Lasse Johansen (4-0, 2KO) Super middle, Mark Graversen (7-1-1, 3KO), middle Fawaz Nasir (3-0, 1KO) and bantamweight Peter Svendsen (1-1-2).

Modern Sports & Events has interestingly enough packed their upcoming show in Mariehamn, Aaland. A small Island between Sweden and Finland, that belongs to the latter. Since almost everybody Speaks Swedish on the Island it's almost like welterweight Paolo Roberto (26-3-1) that headlines the card, is fighting on his own backyard. He lives in Stockholm.

The Swede takes on Raul Eduardo Bejerano (23-2-5, 7KO) for the WBC International welterweight title. The former WBC junior middleweight title challenger has been preparing in the US for this fight and has according to observers been looking good in training. Also keep a Look out for the new Swedish featherweight sensation Samuel Kebede (17-0, 10 KO) he is also pinned on the card, as well as Norwegian bantamweight prospect Reidar Walstad (2-0-1). Walstad has been in a tough training camp in England preparing for the show, sparring good with tough Brits. Colourful Welter/Junior middle Milan Mircovic (9-0-0, 9KO) could definitely lift the show with his normally non-stop aggressive style. Danish amateur middleweight star Youssef El-Awad is making an interesting debut and in addition to that we get to enjoy the remarkable skills of Danish Junior middleweight prospect Ahmed Kaddour (12-0-0, 6KO), with out a doubt Denmark's finest prospect as of right now. The Scandinavian boxing feast this November also includes the IBF World title challenge in Chester, West Virginia by Danish Lightweight Dennis Holbaek (43-1) against IBF champ Paul Spadafora (35-0) as well as an IBF super middleweight attempt to be made by Danish tough-guy Rudy Markussen (27-0). Undefeated German Sven Ottke will be in Rudy's opposite corner so the hard-punching Dane is indeed in for a tough assignment!
