NEW YORK (June 27, 2003) - The popular boxing series "ShoBox: The New Generation" will return to West Virginia on Thursday, July 3, when undefeated welterweight Carlos Quintana battles Vinroy Barrett at the Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort. In the co-feature, undefeated featherweight prospect Bernard Dunne will take on Mario Lacey. SHOWTIME will televise both bouts, presented by Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing, LLC, at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The telecast represents the 33rd in a series of "ShoBox" telecasts that began on July 21, 2001.

Quintana (13-0, 11 KOs), of Moca, Puerto Rico, the rising contender scored a first-round TKO over Miguel Avila on Aug. 12, 2000. Three months later on Nov. 28, 2000, Quintana returned to Las Vegas to register a second-round TKO over Rosember Palacios. The Puerto Rican native has fought eight of his 13 contests in his home country, posting an impressive 8-0 record there, with seven KOs. In his most recent outing on May 11, 2002, the undefeated boxer earned a sixth-round TKO over Vincent Harris in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Barrett (19-1, 10 KOs), of Negril, Jamaica, relocated to Nashville, Tenn., to purse boxing professionally following a successful amateur career. Beginning with a first-round knockout victory in his pro debut on Oct. 28, 1997, Barrett won seven out of his first eight bouts by KO. Armed with the ability to end any fight with one punch, Barrett has floored 10 opponents inside of three rounds. Since suffering his lone defeat to Lenny Laudat on March 20, 1999, Barrett has won nine consecutive fights. On May 8, 2003, Barrett ran his Nashville record to 9-0 by scoring a second-round KO against Tony Howard.

Dunne (7-0, 6 KOs), of Dublin, Ireland, compiled an outstanding 119-11 amateur record. He is being closely watched as a possible break out star, already generating buzz in the boxing industry. After capturing 11 national titles, including a gold medal at the Multi Nations tournament, as well as two European bronze medals, Dunne brought his skills to the United States to train with Freddie Roach in Hollywood, Calif. In his initial pro outing, the 21-year-old Dunne scored a second-round TKO over Rodrigo Ortiz on Dec. 19, 2001. The talented Irishman has recorded first-round knockouts in four of his past five contests, including in his most recent bout against Terrell Hargrove on June 6, 2003.

Lacey (6-1-3, 5 KOs), of Pritchard, Ala., earned five golden gloves championships and five junior Olympic titles during a stellar amateur career. The tactical fighter made his pro debut at age 20 on March 20, 2000, and tallied a four-round draw against Alan O'Quinn in Mobile, Ala. Since suffering his lone setback on April 20, 2001, to Francisco Bojado, Lacey has posted a 3-0-1 record. Following consecutive knockouts over Rick Dinkins and Frederick Collins on Sept. 13, 2002, and April 5, 2003, respectively, Lacey stopped John Temple in the sixth round during his most recent fight on April 24, 2003.
