25.11 - ORMOC CITY, Southern Leyte, Philippines – Philippine bantamweight contender Ricky Gozo seems at home in the featherweight division after winning a lopsided 10-round decision over Colong Tahuson Sunday night at the Ormoc City Superdome in this city.

The 18-year old Gozo, fighting for the first time in the 126 lb. class, struggled in the first two rounds
but eventually picked up the pace in the succeeding rounds to get the nod of all three judges. Official scores were 99-90 on two scorecards while the third one was 98-92.

The Bato, Leyte native Gozo (12-4, 3 KO’s) struggled in his last three fights as a bantamweight but trainer Socrates Batoto believes his ward will now be more comfortable fighting as a featherweight.

“He is still adjusting in the featherweight division but he now will probably fight as a 126. He’s got the height and skills to make it big in this division” said Batoto, a former two-time world challenger.

At the same time, manager Marty Elorde is keen on sending Gozo in the United States to sharpen his
skills. Gozo may train either in San Francisco or Los Angeles possibly early next year.

Meanwhile, Sydney Olympian Danilo Lerio Jr. wowed the crowd with his superior boxing talent in scoring a 6-round shut out over hapless Larry Unson.

The 21-year old Lerio has now scored three wins in as many outings and is eyeing a crack at the Philippine jr. flyweight title next year. He is penciled to fight an 8-round match this coming December.

In other results, jr. lightweights Jobar Damosmog and Al Deliguer settled for a 1st round technical draw after an accidental clashing of heads resulted in a deep gash over both fighters eyebrows.

Superflyweight Elderd RomeroTKO’d Danilo Logramonte in the 7th round. Superbantamweight Danny Barzaga won by Unanimous Decision over Alex Caliente. Flyweight Ryan Campesino by decision against Rico Genon. Rey Almonicar by 4th round knockout versus Ronald Postrano.
