MIKE "BOMBER" KIZZA: CALLING OUT ALL FEATHERWEIGHTS!

By Tony Nobbs

20.12 - African Super Featherweight Champion Michael Kizza says he wants to win the World Featherweight Title by the end of 2003, and he makes no bones about how he wants to accomplish it. "I want the World Title and I want to win it by bombing out the entire division. Anyone who is man enough to fight me. I have not fought since July 7 when I won the African Title over twelve rounds from Macho Kiwanuka on three days notice and I am a fighter".

Trained by former WBA 154 lb Champion Ayub Kalule and managed by Ade Makinde, 23 year old Kizza is a 5 foot 5, power puncher with a 15-2 , 10 KO record and a strong will. Asked if his power is something he developed, he said "My power is natural and my desire great".

Kizza was booked to fight on December 13 in East London, South Africa on the undercard of the IBO Super Flyweight Title fight between Lunga Ntontela and Edison Torres but had his bout with former IBF Title Challenger Jackie Gunguluza (39-8,19 KO) called off due to Television time. Kizza was originally scheduled to face local prospect Takalani (19-1, 12 KO) on that promotion.

Anxious to show fans around the world what he has, relatively unknown Kizza has an anywhere anytime attitude to prospective opponents. He previously called out Scotland's new WBO Champion Scott Harrison for the Commonwealth Title the man from Glasgow held before beating Pablo Chacon for his new crown on October 19. "Scott Harrison, I know Scott won't like to fight me, but I won't give him a break. Not until I prove to the whole world that I am the best Featherweight. I want to win the Commonwealth Title, then the World Title, I do not care against who. I want the best there is. I feel like I have not accomplished everything with being African Champion, I have to be world Champion. I've met with Ugandan World Champions Cornelius Boza Edwards and Ayub Kalule who is my current trainer and feel these guys were Great Warriors in the ring, we know we have what it takes to become World Champions so we are just waiting for the right time to hit the Big Time".

Two WBC rated fighters Kizza has in his sights are #8 Katakashi Koshimoto from Japan and Australia's Nedal Hussein who is rated at Super Bantamweight but moved up to 126 lb to snatch a unanimous decision over Kizza's friend Jackson Asiku in Sydney on October 25.

"I will come to their backyards to fight. I want to avenge Asiku's loss, I was his coach in Lukunga Boxing Club when he won the Bronze medal at 1998 Commonwealth Games. Beating Katakashi will get me closer to Eric (Morales)".
