11.05 - Polish lightweight contender Matt Zegan scored his 26th win on Saturday, stopping journeyman Manuel Gomes. Zegan controlled the fight from the opening bell, keeping a safe distance and landing his punches almost at will. Gomes, a late substitute from Angola, was dropped in the third round with a well-timed left, and rocked with a three- punch combination in the fourth. He didn't answer the bell for the fifth round.
The bout took place in Stuttgart, Germany on the undercard of Thomas Ulrich vs. Graziano Rocchigiani. Originally, Zegan was scheduled for a rematch with Arthur Grigorian, the WBO lightweight champion, but the match has been indefinitely postponed due to Grigorian's biceps injury. The first fight between these two ended up in a very controversial point win for Grigorian.
