EVANDER HOLYFIELD

“Everything is going great. I have not abused my body. I am looking forward to Oct. 4. This is a fan’s fight between two guys who like to fight. Toney says he is going to stand there and fight. I hope he does. It could be a short night.”

“My goal is still to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Right now, James Toney is the guy in the way. I needed to fight, and he wanted to fight me. Even though I have been inactive, the layoff may have done me some good. I need to stay busy.”

“Right now, the heavyweight division is at a standstill. Lennox Lewis never fought the guys he was supposed to when he had the three belts. Now, he only has one and says he wants to retire. Well, quit talking about it. If you are going to retire, than retire. If he does not want to fight anymore, he should cash everything in right now. Toney was my best option.”

“I have nothing to prove to anybody. I want to go out like I came in. No one said I could do anything. I am the only four-time heavyweight champion. Lots of fighters like to plan their exit. I refuse to leave at the bottom.”
