EVANDER HOLYFIELD

“When people get tired of you, sometimes the decision does not go your way. It is up to you, to not quit. When things do not go your way, you have to have a good attitude. You still have to go to the drawing board. Sometimes going to the drawing board allows you to make adjustments necessary to win the big one.”

“I think there is a good chance I will fight Mike Tyson again. I do not ever rule anything out. My goal is to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. If I do not get that opportunity and Tyson is available, then I am available.”

“I have not lost any power, but the most important thing is that people fight me a little differently and I have to make adjustments. A lot of times people are not really fighting to win. The times people fight to win will give me a better chance for me to get a knockout.”

(Regarding draw against Lennox Lewis): “I do not feel that Lennox did enough in that fight, and I did not do enough. I do remember later on that year in Las Vegas that I beat him hands down.”

“Now, that I am fighting because I should do it, and not because of my ego, it makes things a little bit harder. The most important thing is that when things are hard, you just do not quit.”

“I do not know if it (fight against Toney) will be a big challenge. But, he talks a lot and he said he is going to fight. I know the fight is going to be exciting as long as it lasts.”

“No one ever expected me to be in the position I am today. Nobody expected me to be the heavyweight champion of the world. They never said I would come back against Riddick Bowe. People said I was too small, did not hit hard enough. Today, people say I am too old.”

“I realize the only way I will not reach my goal of being the heavyweight champion of the world is if I quit. I am not going to quit. ”

“Unfortunately, when people sometimes become the heavyweight champion of the world, they think they are bigger than boxing. They feel that the rules have changed because they say they have changed. No one is bigger than boxing.”

“Roy Jones Jr. is a good fighter. He chose the right opponent to step up against. If he wants to fight next as a heavyweight, then I will fight him as well. I cleaned the cruiserweight division up. Then, when I moved up to the heavyweight division, I just did not fight one fight (like Jones Jr.). I fought all the guys to become ranked No. 1, and then I won the title. What Jones Jr. is doing is taking a peep at it (heavyweight division), which is the wrong way.”

“Toney and I are both warriors. We do not turn down fights. The fight was offered and we both decided to do it. We both know that we come to fight. It should be a very exciting fight. Neither one of us is going to have to figure the other out. It is just who hits the hardest, and who cannot deal with the punching power.”

“In this fight, Toney should expect more adjustments on my part. For one thing, I have a brand new shoulder and I have to see if it works. When someone says something, they have to back it up. It will be exciting for the pay-per-view audience to see Evander get revived.”

“My prediction is the Atlanta Braves are going to win the World Series. They got off on a bad foot, but did not quit. Now, they are one and one. Hopefully, after tomorrow they will be ahead 2-1.”

“Power is knowledge. I know what I should do, and I will do it.”

“As soon as the bell rings, Toney is going to come across the ring and come toward me. We are going to meet. I do not think he is going to get a chance to go across the ring because I think I am going to beat him to it.”

“I am going to come into this fight with a fresh mind. I look forward to going through James Toney.”

“I think this fight will end in a knockout. When you put too much pressure together, something has to give. The pipe will bust, and I am sure it is going to be Toney’s pipe that gets busted.”

“I am going to do all my talking when I get into the ring on Saturday. I am just going to be motivated to make Toney pay for each and every word he said.”
