'Kid Dynamite' David Walker to defend against Spencer Fearon

18.07 - Kid Dynamite’s two-round demolition of John ‘Boy’ Humphrey back in May was nothing short of a spectacular return to title class. Particularly so as it was a clash that detractors of the Sidcup puncher were all to quick to predict he would lose, no doubt having seen his defeat to Jimmy Vincent in a breathtaking final eliminator for the British welterweight title last December.

Had they listened better to his explanation for that reverse – he had struggled desperately to make the welterweight limit – they would not have been forced to eat their words so emphatically and realised that David’s move to light middleweight would suit him as much as it evidently has.

Already the 27-year-old has recaptured the Southern Area Title he bravely vacated a division below in order to make the step up and has placed himself on the verge of a major title shot. What’s more he has secured the opportunity to silence a fellow South Londoner.

“I cannot wait to get in there and take on Spencer Fearon,” began David. “He has apparently been calling my name for a while; I think he may be about to regret that. He should have been a bit more careful about what he had wished for!

He added: “I am flying now at light middleweight. I no longer have to worry so much about my weight so I can be more relaxed and focus on my boxing.

“Against John Humphrey I really enjoyed myself. It was fantastic to be able to perform like that for all my loyal supporters, but they haven’t the seen the best of me yet.

“I am completely back on track. With the support of my promoter Mick Hennessy and my trainer Robert McCracken I know that if I keep taking care of business as I will against Fearon, it is only a matter of time before I am given a major opportunity.”

David Walker defends his Southern Area Light Middleweight Title against Spencer Fearon on the Hennessy Sports' 'Excitement Guaranteed' promotion at the Norwich Sports Village on Friday July 25th. Also appearing: outstanding triple king Howard Eastman in a defence of his European Middleweight Title against former WBC champion Hassine Cherifi, Herbie Hide, Ryan Rhodes, Steve Spartacus, the 'Real Class of 2002' and the rest of the Hennessy Sports team.
