Seattle's Kenny Ellis Ranked in Top 10

15.05 - The "Emerald City Assassin" Kenny Ellis moved into the WBO's top ten world rankings and a step closer to a world title fight. Ellis is now ranked 7th in the middleweight (160 pound) division. Ellis won an unanimous decision over Fernando Zuniga (22-5, 17ko's) of Quito Ecuador, for the WBO's North American Boxing Organization (NABO) middleweight title on April 12th at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma Washington.

Ellis was also named the North American Boxing Organizations's "Fighter of the Month" for May.

Currently, Kenny Ellis is ranked in all of boxings premier organizations rankings. Ellis is currently ranked 8th in the USBA (IBF), 7th in the NABF (WBC), and 6th in the NABA (WBA).

"Kenny is the premier fighter in the Northwest and now is one of the premier fighters in the world", said Ellis' promoter Brian Halquist. "It's very possible that Kenny will be fighting for a world title in as soon as six months".

In the meantime Ellis will be heading the May 31st card at the Emerald Queen Casino's "Battle at the Boat" series. Ellis will be fighting Antoine Robinson (26-6-1, 9ko's) of Louisville, Kentucky in the Main Event.

"We've been working on this for 2 years" Halquist said. "Kenny is doing everything we have asked of him - including two a-day workouts. I truly believe Kenny will be the world champion".

Ellis is 6-0 with 4 ko's since teaming up with Halquist. In the past 2 years Ellis opponents have all had winning records, with a combined winning percentage of over 800, which is literally unheard of in boxing today.

When asked about his thoughts, Kenny Ellis had this to say, "It doesn't matter who I fight, it's not for the money. They wouldn't let me in thru the front door…….so I went thru the back door to get in".
