Ellis, Ikeke fight for three belts

01.08 - (Tacoma, WA.) Kenny Ellis and Kingsley Ikeke will fight for an unprecedented 3 titles in one night. The NABO, NABF, and NABA titles are within the grasp of the fighter that declares himself king of the ring. This is yet another nail-biting episode of the Battle at the Boat series.

The Emerald Queen Casino will host Battle at the Boat XXII; the gloves come on at 7:00pm, August 29th, 2003.

Kenny Ellis (30-4-2 20KO’s) the “Emerald City Assassin” is currently ranked 3rd in the WBO world rankings, is the current NABO champion, and is ranked 6th by the NABA and 5th by the NABF. He is looking forward to this opportunity to assassinate his competition. “This is no doubt the biggest fight in Kenny’s career. It will give him the ownership of three titles and will rank him in the top ten of the WBO, WBA, and WBC world rankings. After this fight there is no denying Kenny a World Title Fight”, said promoter Brian Halquist. “This will be a tough fight, but it is truly winner take all”.

When asked about this fight Kenny said, “I’m fighting a tall guy… remember one word; TIMBER. No middleweight can outbox Kenny Ellis when I am 100 percent, not one middleweight in the world”.

Kenny will face Kingsley “Sharp Knuckle” Ikeke (17-1-0 9KO’s) who is ranked 8th in the world by the WBA, 2nd in the NABF, 10th in the NABA, and 14th in the NABO. Ikeke’s had this to say about his opportunity to take home three notable titles, “This is going to be a very good fight. I’m happy to fight, very hyped and excited to come. The opportunity at three titles is great news and I’m looking forward to bringing the titles home with me”.

The Semi-main event features two undefeated Super Middleweight boxers battling it out to keep their records unblemished. James “The African Express” Lubwama (15-0-0 8KO’s) VS Willie “Slick” Stewart (19-0-0 11KO’s) in a 10 round semi-main event.

Steve Rowland, Stewart’s manager said, “He lives up to his nickname of slick. We’re not looking for a KO we’re just going to go in every round and outpoint our opponent”.

Johnny Bumphus, Lubwama’s trainer said, “He’s in the best shape of his life, this will be an impressive win”.
