ALLAN VESTER W 12 Lawrence Ngobeni (South Africa)

19.11 - After coming up short in shots at the world and European title, Vester got back to the basics and completed his comeback by regaining his old Intercontinental title with a unanimous decision over dangerman Ngobeni. The Dane won on scores of 115:113 from both Roger Tilleman (Belgium) and Luca Montella (Italy), but Polish judge Marek Zuraszek’s tally of 118:112 was way off-base as Vester struggled to find his form against his aggressive co-challenger. Boxing almost exclusively on the backfoot, it quickly became clear that the new champion was the superior technician. But Ngobeni, punching much harder, never let the local hero rest for a second and Vester was made to look uncomfortable on many occasions, requiring every inch of his height and reach advantages to get through. He raised his record to 22-3-1 (4).

CHRISTIAN BLADT W 6 Moses Sentamu (Uganda), Welterweight

IBF Intercontinental welterweight champion Bladt, now 25-2-1 (6), clearly won a routine fight in unspectacular manner by votes of 59:54, 60:53 and 60:55. The Ungandan, though, was a slippery customer difficult to nail cleanly. Bladt was credited with a knockdown in the last, but Sentamu clearly slipped after getting punched on the shoulder. The most exciting moment of this affair came when Sentamu’s trainer, former world champion Ayub Kalule, was introduced and wildly cheered. Kalule, of course, lived and fought out of Denmark and still enjoyed star recognition on his first visit in the country after retiring back to his native Uganda.

MARK GRAVERSEN W 6 Isidore Janvier (Germany), Supermiddleweight

After conceeding his unbeaten record last time out, Graversen got back on the winning track with a unanimous (59:55, 59:56, 58:56) decision over two-time International German champion Janvier. Really, though, it was much closer than the scores indicate. Although Graversen moved forward all the time, he looked one-dimensional and Janvier, who concentrated too much on being just a counterpuncher, actually outboxed him on the backfoot in the third and last rounds respectively.

LASSE JOHANSEN TKO 2 Attila Mate (Hungary), Cruiserweight

Mate was a last-minute substitute and thus it was no surprise Johansen dominated from the off, scoring his first knockdown in the dying seconds of the opener. After putting the visitor on the canvas twice more with bodyshots in round two it was waved over. Despite upping his record to 5-0 (3), Johansen must learn to punch “professionally” if he wants to achieve something.

FAWAZ NASIR TKO 2 Jozsef Balazs (Romania), Middleweight

Strongman Balazs, bald head and huge blonde beard, stormed out almost Tyson-like, but after some initial confusion Nasir started to pick him off between rushes with straight lefts and right uppercuts. After really hurting the Hungaro-Romanian with a great counter in the second, Nasir opened up impressively with an avalange of all sorts of punches until the referee had no choice but to jump in. Definitely, Nasir, now 4-0 (2) and with filmstar looks, seems a very bright prospect indeed.

PETER SVENDSEN W 6 George Owenge (Kenya), Bantamweight

Things never seem easy for little hard-luck battler Svendsen, but finally he collected his second pro win to improve to 2-1-2 (0) after a lively tussle with skinny Owenge, which was scored 58:57, 59:55 and 58:56
