Richel Hersisia Not Boxing On Barbados

08.04 - Manager Olaf Schröder of Fight Production confirmed that he withdrew undefeated Dutch heavyweight Richel Hersisia from his planned WBA Central America title defence against Jimmy Joseph, scheduled to take place on April 19 on the Caribbean island of Barbados.

“I have lost complete confidence that the promotion will go ahead as planned and I can’t ask Richel to keep on training for something that is on very shaky grounds,” explains the German manager, “In fact, the promotion was postponed several times and all we had was costs for training and apologies from the promoters.” Apparantly, Hersisia did not receive any refunds for training expenses when the promotion was re-scheduled for the final time and Schröder said that with less than two weeks until fight time no flight arrangements have been made by promotional company PEGS. Furthermore, trainer Mourad Louati, the former European superwelterweight champion, never received a video of challenger Joseph, which was promised several times.

Hersisia, who has won all his 18 professional fights with only four of them going to the scorecards, will next feature in his hometown of Den Haag on May 16. An official announcement is expected shortly.
