De La Hoya Quotes from "Best Damn Sports Show Period"

16.01 - Oscar De La Hoya was a guest Wednesday on Fox Sports Net's "Best Damn Sports Show Period". Here are excerpts from his appearance:

* De La Hoya on beating Fernando Vargas: "It was a very satisfying moment. At first I wasn't going to fight him because of personal reasons. Then I got fed up with that. Then I wanted to show what we had inside the ring."

* De La Hoya on the contact he has had with Vargas since their meeting in the ring: "We have talked. We went to a restaurant and talked about our futures and talked about if we can have a rematch. We didn't come out best of friends but we talked and maybe we will do it again some time."

* De La Hoya on why he's fighting Yory Boy Campas in May: "I came off a good win on Vargas. I've got to keep that momentum going. I have to stay in good shape and make history. I've got to get revenge on [Shane] Mosley, I've just got to."

* De La Hoya on fighting Vernon Forrest, who is undefeated and beaten Mosley twice: "It will happen. Believe me, it will happen. If everything goes well, let's fight everybody. Let's do it."

* De La Hoya on fighting Felix Trinidad again: "I've tried and tried. It's hard to make that fight happen. He's retired. We've talked through family members. We haven't been able to talk one on one. He's just saying, 'no.' He's retired and that's it."

* De La Hoya on his disappointment in not fighting Trinidad again: "It's pretty disappointing. I have to admit, the first time I boxed him too much. I was wrong with the game plan I had. My corner had a perfect game plan by boxing him and displaying some boxing ability. But I don't think it was right for the public, for me to go out there and just try to box him. If I were to fight him again, let's crash. Like two Mac trucks."
