CKP Inks David Tua To Exclusive Promotional Agreement

03.04 - World-ranked heavyweight David Tua has signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Cedric Kushner Promotions, it was announced today.

The 30-year-old Tua, also known as "Tuaman," generally is regarded as not only the most powerful but the most exciting and colorful heavyweight in action today.

"David Tua is the most important heavyweight contender in the sport today," said Cedric Kushner.
"We're on a mission to win a world title," said Kevin Barry, manager and trainer of Tua. "Cedric knows what we want, and we have every confidence he'll help us reach our goal. That's why we selected Cedric to promote us."

"It was a great fight, but not my best fight," said Tua of his recent draw with Hasim Rahman. "I know I'm capable of doing better, and I will."

Tua, who has a record of 42-3-1 with 37 knockouts, holds or has held a bevy of heavyweight titles, including North American Boxing Federation, United States Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation Intercontinental and World Boxing Council International. But the ones he wants most-International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Association or World Boxing Council-now are within his grasp.

Tua's past 13 wins and 21 of his past 22 victories have come by knockout, including two most impressive nationally televised triumphs last year, a first-round KO of former world heavyweight champion Michael Moorer Aug. 17 and a ninth-round stoppage of Fres Oquendo April 13.

Tua was born as Mafaufau Tavito Lio Mafaufau Sanerivi Talimatasi in Aopo, Western Samoa. He now resides in both South Auckland, New Zealand, where he is a national idol, and Las Vegas.
