Harrison Opponent Named: Colin Wilson

21.07 - Olympic Super Heavyweight Champion, Audley Harrison makes his 12th professional outing on Wednesday August 6th at Sydney’s Entertainment Centre, against former Australian Heavyweight Champion, Colin Wilson.

Wilson, who hails from Queensland, Australia will be Harrison’s first southpaw opponent. He is 31 years of age and matches the ‘A-Force’ in height at 6ft 5ins and weighing over 17 stone. His career so far spans over 10 years and his current record stands at 24 wins, 16 losses, 14 of his wins coming by way of knock out.

Harrison’s Business Manager, Hazel Bruno-Gilbert said, “It was decided by Team A-Force that Colin Wilson would be a good opponent for Audley at this stage of his career. This is the first time that Audley has boxed a southpaw, and it will be interesting to see how Audley copes with this scenario”.

She continued, “Wilson’s past opponents have included a controversial split decision defeat to ‘Big’ Bob Mirovic, who gave British Heavyweight Champion Danny Williams a stern test back in April of this year. He also had an impressive points win over 10 rounds against the always dangerous, Jimmy Thunder last year. The fact that Wilson will be fighting in front of his home fans, will no doubt make him raise his game, we fully expect it to be an exciting and explosive contest”.

In preparation for this contest Audley has been sparring with Former IBF Cruiserweight Champion, Vassiliy Jirov who is preparing for his own comeback fight on August 7th against Ernest Mateen.

Harrison’s head trainer, Thell Torrence commented, “For the last 20 days Audley’s sparring has been phenomenal, Jirov is a tough, rugged former world champion, this kind of work will be invaluable in taking Audley to the next level”.

Harrison will box Wilson over eight rounds and is the chief support bout to the much hyped Anthony Mundine v Antwan Echols WBA Super Middleweight Title fight.

Audley is expected to arrive in Australia on Tuesday morning (22nd July) where he will complete his final preparations for his contest.

A-Force Promotions are proud to announce that former Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and Sydney Olympian Courtney Fry, has been added to the undercard and will be boxing over 4x3’s against an opponent to be named shortly.
