Luan Krasniqi scores brutal first round KO over Saleta

27.04 - Schwerin - Former European heavyweight champion Luan Krasniqi entirely repaired his reputation with a brutal first round knockout victory over Przemyslaw Saleta, the man who beat him last July.

Krasniqi came out patiently in round 1 but soon connected with precise power shots that wobbled his single conqueror who held the European heavyweight title briefly last year after beating Krasniqi. Once Krasniqi had Saleta hurt he was all over him and knocked him down three times until the referee stopped the punishment 2:53 into the fight.

“If you really want to score a knockout badly it doesn’t work. But if you don’t want the knockout and you intend to go the distance, then suddenly you score the knockout”, Krasniqi said, referring to his first fight against Saleta where he went for the knockout from the opening bell and overpaced.

“This time I really wanted to go 10 rounds. I apologize that I didn’t live up to my prediction”, Krasniqi joked.

“I’m a boxer for 16 years but this was my hardest fight. It’s because I put all my eggs in one basket. If I would have lost to Saleta again I could have hang up my gloves.”

With this victory Krasniqi who may now be right on track for a new shot at the European crown went 23-1 with 13 knockouts.

Saleta dropped to 41-6 with 21 knockouts.
