With the popularity of Mixed Martial Arts soaring, Haroon Khan – brother of boxing superstar Amir – heads off to Dubai on Friday February 27 for one of the sport’s biggest events.
In any arena, a clash between Pakistan and India produces fireworks, but Super Fight League’s ‘Clash of the Titans’ is promising to blow the roof off The Dome in Dubai’s Sport City.
With some of the best MMA fighters from Pakistan and India clashing at the high-profile rumble, Khan says he can’t wait to travel over and experience the Middle East event.
“Obviously I’m a huge boxing fan,” said Haroon, who is undefeated as a pro in five outings, “but I’m also really into MMA too.
“These guys are terrific athletes, very tough, and the excitement at the shows is incredible. The other great thing is that the best fight each other, which is something boxing could learn from.
“I’m really looking forward to experiencing ‘Clash of the Titans’. There are some great matches on and the atmosphere will be amazing.”
As the global audience for MMA continues to grow, and with some of the sports’ pay-per-view events breaking records, it has also recently been announced that Super Fight League will be heading to Great Britain.
Asif Vali, former manager of Amir Khan, has been involved in some of boxing’s biggest fights in recent years and has revealed he will be leading on introducing Super Fight League shows to the UK.
“I’m delighted to be getting involved,” explained the Bolton businessman. “Super Fight League are Asia’s leading MMA organisation and are also having incredible success in the USA.
“As an international organisation, Super Fight League are looking to put shows on globally and we don’t want the UK to miss out.
“I’ve been involved in boxing, at all levels, for years and know that it can learn a lot from MMA. The shows will be pure entertainment, the action will be competitive and exciting to watch, and Super Fight League will be huge in the UK.”
