New England Fights Mixed Martial Arts (NEF MMA) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston this Saturday night, February 8, with the most-anticipated main event the fight promotion has ever put together. The bout stands atop a stellar fight card stacked with the best and brightest professional and amateur fighters from all over New England.
“We’re expecting a packed house Saturday night,” stated NEF MMA co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “If you live within driving distance of the Colisee, you would be absolutely crazy to miss this show for any reason. This is the hottest main event NEF has ever hosted. The ticket pre-sales have been our biggest ever by far. We could very well break our own attendance record. It’s going to be loud and wild at 190 Birch Street this Saturday night, even louder and wilder than usual.”
The main event DiSalvo speaks of will feature UFC veteran, current Bellator competitor and Maine fight legend Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis (22-10) facing his former student at Team Irish, “THE” Ryan Sanders (5-4), in a welterweight contest. Much has been made of the rivalry between the two, with Saturday night promising an explosive grand finale to the drama and fireworks of the past two to three years since their parting of ways. Much has also been made of the cross-town rivalry between Davis’ Team Irish gym and Young’s MMA, Sanders’ present camp, both in the Bangor area.
NEF MMA announced today that as part of “Fight Week” leading into “NEF XII” this Saturday, Davis and Sanders would appear together on the “Mountain Morning Show” this Wednesday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. EST. They will have the opportunity to discuss their upcoming fight just three days before it hits the cage, and they will have the opportunity to confront each other live on radio. The popular “Mountain Morning Show” is hosted by Tom O. and Mr. Mike on WTOS-FM. The station can be heard on frequencies 105.1 FM from Augusta, Maine through Bangor and points north, 96.7 FM Mid-Coast Maine and 101.1 FM Downeast Maine.
“NEF XII,” is scheduled to take place this Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine with a bell time of 7:00 pm. In the main event, Maine MMA legend Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis (22-10) faces his former student “THE” Ryan Sanders (5-4) in a much-anticipated welterweight contest. In addition, Maine State MMA Middleweight Champion Jesse Peterson (7-4) will return to action for the first time in nearly a year to defend his title against “Ruthless” Mike Zichelle (6-3).
