golovkin433 Before I get started I just want to say that the Mayweather/Canelo fight is a unanimous decision victory for Floyd regardless of CJ Ross’ inept scoring. By now everyone is wondering who Floyd will fight next in May of 2014. Cinco De Mayo is a traditional Mexican holiday that Floyd on several occasions has chosen to fight on, and has fought non-Mexicans on that date. Fans can expect an undercard loaded with Mexican fighters if Floyd elects to fight a non-Mexican on that date. Floyd could also elect to fight on another May 2014 date all-together.

Of the names that Floyd could be expected fight a few will peak fans interest and these are:
Danny Garcia – Matthysee will enforce his rematch clause. But does anybody believe that Garcia can beat Mayweather? NO!

wlad1 For Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, as well as many boxing fans, October 10, 2013 will be a date to remember.

For both fighters this match will be one of their most significant ones, as not only is the championship on the line, but this kind of promotion is simply put, colossal. While most champions always train hard for their fights, there are those moments when they take their training just a bit further.

Heavyweight fighter Sam Sexton (18-3-0) is proof of that. Sexton happened to be picked as a sparring partner for Wladimir Klitschko in preparation for his mega-bout against Povetkin.

Vivek W. (ESB): I think the pending move to 168lbs will demonstrate that it’s both a curse and a blessing, as all positive effects of this move will be nullified by the reality it brings. When we look at his past fights, Chavez Jr. has shown what some view to be a “very good chin”. But few stop to actually question whether or not this has anything to do with the fact that he’s taking shots from men who are naturally much smaller.

Vera’s Time Might Not Come Again

This past Saturday night Brian Vera was robbed of his big fight and his big chance in a sport where the big chances rarely happen once. Such an event is nothing new from a sport that has been carrying various forms of corruption since the 18 century. Judges rob boxers of their victories all the time: that happens. This robbery, however, feels a little worse than most. Not because of the inaccuracy of the scorecards, but because of the likely results to follow.

Julio Cesar Chavez will go on to have other big fights with big paydays, while Brian Vera will most likely go back to being an opponent.

Vera deserves his big victory. If he should land another big match he will again be the other guy, the man who’s brought in to lose and make the main attraction look good. Everything was against him in this fight.

Bradley: Ain’t no 40-year-old [Marquez] going to whip my a**

WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (30-0, 12 KO’s) figures that he’ll beat 40-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO’s) simply by being the younger guy on October 12th in their fight at the Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Bradley has not looked good in his last two fights against Manny Pacquiao and Ruslan Provodnikov. Bradley’s not really coming from a position of strength. He was given a gift decision over Pacquiao after spending much of the time running.

In Bradley’s last fight against Provodnikov, he was hurt multiple times and knocked down when he made the mistake of trying to punch with him. Bradley made a decent looking fighter look like a great one in that fight, and he should consider himself very lucky that he got the win.

Chavez Jr: This fight doesn’t deserve a rematch

If you were hoping that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (47-1-1, 32 KO’s) would give Brian Vera (23-7, 14 KO’s) a rematch to shut down the criticism he’s receiving from fans over his debatable 10 round unanimous decision last Saturday night, you can forget it. Chavez Jr. has ruled out giving Vera a rematch. Instead, Chavez Jr. plans on moving forward with his career and will be looking for a title shot in his next fight, which he hopes will take place at 168.

Chavez Jr. won the fight by the scores 98-92, 96-94 and 97-93. One judge had Chavez Jr. winning the first 7 rounds of the fight, and that would seem like an impossibility considering that Vera clearly got the better of Chavez Jr. in at least 5 of the first 7 rounds.

Well tonight we didn’t see just one oddball score from a judge; we saw three of them with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (47-1-1, 32 KO’s) winning a controversial 10 round unanimous decision against a much smaller Brian Vera (23-7, 14 KO’s) on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

I’m not sure which fight the three judges were watching because I had Vera winning the fight by 4 rounds. The three judges had the fight scored 96-94, 97-93 and 98-92.

I’m still trying to figure out how two of the judges had Chavez Jr. winning 97-93 and 98-92. With the way that Chavez Jr. was getting outworked all fight long, I don’t see how he could have won all those rounds.

Stevenson destroys Cloud

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (22-1, 9 KO’s) totally dominated former IBF light heavyweight Tavoris Cloud (24-2, 19 KO’s) in stopping him after the 7th round on Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The fight was halted after the 7th round because of a nasty cut over the right eye of Cloud. He was cut over both eyes, but the cut over his right eye was deep one.

It was a horribly one-sided fight from start to the bitter finish with the southpaw Stevenson hitting Cloud at will with lightning fast left hands and right hooks. Cloud was too slow of hand and foot to land anything more than an occasional shot. He did land some punches in the 5th through 7th rounds, but not enough of them to make the fight competitive.

While many ringside observers are predicting the highly anticipated match-up to go the distance, due to the mental and physical durability of the title challenger, Stevenson’s trainer, Javan “Sugar” Hill, warns everyone not to blink when the opening bell sounds.

“With Adonis, you just never know how long the fight will be,” claims the Kronk Gym trainer. “Because of his massive power, you really don’t know if the fight will go twelve rounds, six rounds, or just 76 seconds.”
