Ringside report by Gianluca (Rio) Di Caro

London promoter Mark Lyons had a nightmare of a run up to his first show of 2016, that took place on Friday night at York Hall, after seven fights are cancelled due to illness or injury in the preceding ten days and Ernest Amuzu, the opponent for headlining George Hillyard WBU International Title defense, fails to secure visa in time, yet somehow Mark Lyons manages to still put on a top class show on the night.

Felix Sturm Interview: “Chudinov said I won fair and square”

Press Room boxing image / photo

Hello Felix, congratulations on your world title winning effort. How do you feel after all?

Thank you! I´m feeling great as champion again.

What were your feelings during the fight?

I felt quite comfortable. the first 5 rounds went by pretty quick. And I think I won them all. Rounds 9, 11 and 12 were also mine. That was enough for the victory. I gave myself some rest between the 6th and 8th, reduced my tempo a little bit. Maybe it would have been clearer if I hadn´t done so. Of course Fedor is a great boxer and was a strong opponent, especially if you consider the low number of fights he had so far. He´s got my respect! As fighter and as a human!

Sam Smith has given Leeds boxing both an Anadin and a dose of Zip fuel

By Jon Collins: Lightweight Sam Smith has given Leeds boxing both an Anadin and a dose of Zip fuel.

3-0 as a pro, the two Eastern European opponents she faced in her first two bouts were so out of their depth it’s a wonder they even made it onto the plane. They were disposed of, quickly and brutally, in a combined total of 90 odd seconds.
