Haroon Khan delighted ‘with his best performance yet’ as he dazzles in fourth professional bout

BOLTON (Feb. 8) – Rising star Haroon Khan got 2014 off to a great start after a dazzling points victory in his fourth professional bout.

The Bolton starlet had too much for his Yorkshire opponent, Francis Croes, on Friday night’s Sheffield bill, as he put on his best performance since turning professional last year.

From the get-go Khan dominated his 25-year-old foe, using his fast footwork and counter punching to offset his challenger’s come-forward style. As the fight progressed it was the super-flyweight Khan landing the more hurtful and telling blows pushing back the unrelenting Croes.

England Boxing initiates a strategic review following recent changes

The Board of England Boxing has initiated a strategic review to examine the workings of the sport and the national governing body following the significant rules, governance and structural changes that have taken place in boxing over the last three months.

The review will analyze the role of the governing body, the support it provides to grassroots boxing and assess the strategic priorities for the organization and the future development of the sport. It will consult with clubs, members and volunteers and influence the development of a new strategy to support the growth and expansion of boxing in England.

WSB: Azerbaijan 5-0 Poland Fires go third

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 8, 2014 – In a ruthless display of boxing, the Azerbaijan Baku Fires beat the Hussars Poland and overtook the Russian Boxing Team to go into third place in Group B.

Friday night marked the triumphant return to the ring of Derrick “Take to the Bank” Webster (15-0, 8 KOs), who methodically broke down Puerto Rican scrapper Julio Garcia (6-6, 3 KOs) over four rounds before hammering him to a TKO stoppage in the 5th round. The official end of the bout came at the 1:19 mark of the frame, with Webster unleashing an assault upon Garcia as the gritty veteran could do nothing but cover up on the ropes in defense.
