Former WBC 154 pound titlist Sergio Mora (28-3-2, 9 kos) scored a twelve round split decision over Abie Han (23-2, 14 kos) in the main event of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights card in Biloxi Mississippi.

WBC # 10/ WBA # 14/ IBF # 14 rated Mora, 34, picked up the vacant USBA 160 pound strap.

“The Latin Snake” controlled the majority of the first nine rounds striking with several sharp shooting right hands before the tough Han rallied late.

WBO # 13/ IBF # 15 Han scored a knockdown in round ten which seemed to spur him on as he aggressively pursued the faster Mora in the final rounds.

The spirited finish was not enough and Mora was a deserved winner by scores of 114-113 and 115-112. A third judge had it the other way 115-112. My score 115-112 Mora.

Nineteen year old junior middleweight Erikson Lubin moved to 9-0, 6 kos with a comfortable eight round shutout over late sub Michael Finney (12-2-1).

Finney, 23, who took the bout on one days notice, gave a good account and had his best moment of the fight when he landed a nice straight right in the fifth. Lubin, a natural righty who boxes as a southpaw cruised through the last few rounds.

Light heavyweight Ahemed Eliabi (9-0, 9 kos) scored a two round stoppage of Dustan Craig Echard (10-1, 7 kos). Echard had some success in the first with a couple of nice right hands but was repayed with interest in the second. He was knocked through the ropes early in the round and Eliabi jumped on him immediately with referee Bill Clancey waving it at 44 seconds.
