Wladimir Klitschko-Tyson Fury is on, and it could prove to be to Klitschko’s toughest test in a while!

As fight fans ave surely read by now, it has been announced by a number of sources how heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko will defend his belts against unbeaten Tyson Fury, the WBO heavyweight mandatory challenger, on October 24th in Germany. The two sides today came together and, at the last minute avoiding the need for purse bids, the fight was made.

Dusseldorf will host the big fight and both giants are confident of victory. Britain’s Fury, who has been calling for a shot at Klitschko for some time, took to his oft-used Twitter account just minutes ago:

“Viva Deutschland, I’m coming to rock your country in October be there or miss the best fight in heavyweight history, #letsgetthispartystarted,” Fury wrote.

Meanwhile, Peter Fury, Tyson’s uncle and trainer thanked Hennessey promotions and Tom Loefler for making the fight a reality.

Tyson had the last word, though:

“10000000000-% @Klitschko is getting smashed,” Fury wrote.

Not that it needs pointing out, but the hype/build-up/press conference(s) and weigh-in for this fight will surely be something. Fury, despite what his critics may say about him, has unlimited assurance and self-belief. He may live to regret it, but Fury does not fear Klitschko. And Wladimir, as great as he is, will be going up against someone as tall as him (or even taller actually) who also has a useful jab, the ability to turn southpaw and box effectively there, and with that huge heart. And at age 39, some fans might just be beginning to suggest that Father Time could have a shot at catching up with the future Hall of Famer.

Of course, this is THE acid test for Fury – whose biggest wins have come against Steve Cunningham ( a cruiserweight who dropped him heavily and was stopped controversially) and Dereck Chisora (who some believe was “shot” or darn close to it in his return meeting with “The Gypsy King.”) Has Fury got what it takes to topple as proficient a fighter as Wladimir?

Lots of fans are in agreement on one thing: it’s going to be fun finding out. This fight has a can’t-miss look about it. Oh, and the pre-fight drama we are sure to witness (from Fury, anyway; Wlad has always been cool as ice) will be fun too!
